Our weavers transform thread into language. Each Ewe Kente pattern is a proverb, a history, a name carried in the interlocking of warp and weft, a tradition older than memory.
Our Story
From a single phone call to a thriving community.
In the summer of 2002, one Ewe man in Denver picked up the phone and called another. That call became a conversation, the conversation became a gathering, and the gathering became the Ewe Association of Colorado.
To Bring Us Together
To unite all Ewes from Eweland living in the Greater Denver Metropolitan area and Colorado in general.
To Foster Unity
To foster unity among the descendants of Eweland and all who believe in the heritage of Eweland.
To Give Back Home
To help in the developmental needs of our people back home in Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.

June 2002
The Spark of an Idea
Derick Glymin calls Esther Winfred-Kporha with a vision to unite the Ewe community. She calls Cornelius Ackumey, and together they reach out across Greater Denver.

June 30, 2002
The First Gathering
A meeting is held in the home of Esther and Chris Wotortsi on the last Sunday of June. All present agree to form the association.

July 2002
Official Formation
The association is formally established at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Cornelius and Laura Ackumey on the last Sunday of July.

August 2002
A Rhythm Established
The Ackumey family hosts the second meeting. The association commits to official monthly meetings on the last Sunday of every month.

2002–2004
A Rotating Home
Meetings rotate through members' homes until gatherings move to varied community locations.

2004
Joining CEANA
EAC joins the Council of Ewe Associations of North America. Derick Glymin and Cornelius Ackumey represent the association.

Thereafter
Founding the RMGC
Derick Glymin and Lucky Korsinah become founding representatives at the Rocky Mountain Ghana Council.

The title of Chairman and Vice Chairman was later changed to President and Vice President, in line with CEANA organization.
